George Washington Death Bicentennial Commemorative. Father of "Our Country", the U.S. of A., 1st President of the Republic and General of the Armies in the Revolutionary War for Independence. Issued in BU [this one] with a low mintage of only 22,511 and Proof [41.7K]. A simple, dignified and powerful design. The Eagle is especially well rendered. This one may be an error coin in that the left wing, pit area, has what appears in the photo like a hole; there is an small area of proof-like surface. Any comments on this?
Laura Fraser, spouse of James Earle Fraser, created this design and it's the best rendition of George Washington I know of. You can read more about this coin at this : [ link ]
