Robert E. Lee 1808 1870 The Hall Of Fame For Great Americans At New York University. Brother Brother. Bronze 44 mm in nice condition with a few small spots and struck in very high relief with two nude males on horseback struggling with swords symbolizing the Civil War struggle of brother versus brother. Signed by the artist Donald de Lue sculptor and made by the Medallic Art Company NY from 1965. The Hall of Fame for Great Americans at New York University was begun in 1900 with bronze portrait busts of the honorees lining an open-air colonnade. Beginning in 1962, medals were issued to honor the existing and future inductees. Medals were issued in two sizes: 76mm in Bronze and 44mm in both Bronze and Silver. Ninety four different medals were issued by the Medallic Art Company.
