This an iconic coin of France's 5th Republic. It features Semeuse, or the "sower" and therefore I think it rightly belongs in the Folk maiden/Ceres group. 5 New Francs - 500 Old Francs. 42.5 M minted. She also wears a Liberty cap. This design by the famous engraver Oscar Roty first appeared in 1898 in the 1 and 2 Fr. denominations. It did not appear in the 5 Fr. until 1960 and by 1970 was being struck in nickel clad copper-nickel.
