This is a curious issue because is was struck during the period of the 3rd Reich [Nazi period] while an aluminum 50 Pfennig, that had been struck since 1935 is listed under the Third Reich. This design was struck in nickel from 1927 to 1938. Here again this issue overlaps the issue that is considered the 50 pfennig of the Nazis. This year of issue (1937 J) falls in between two Nazi 50 pf. designs while retaining the Weimar design. This year/mintmark (Hamburg) is the 3rd scarcest of the series with 300k struck. Very SCARCE, most were collected and melted for the war effort..
