Egypt under the United Arab Republic. OB: May 15 of 1964
Commemoration of Diversion of the Nile river. Rx: United Arab Republic 50 Qirsh 1964 1384. I assume this Nile diversion was necessary to build the Aswan Dam, and event that was also a theme on future coin issues. The diversion was also a theme on 5, 10, 25 Piastre (Qirsh) coins as well as 5 & 10 Pound coins. Mintage was 250k with 2k in proof.
