Part of the nice little series of Duren, the Miner was featured on a least two denomination/issues, one a standing figure. The portrait type includes this Miner, a Soldier (sim. to Weissenfels) and the highly desireable Pilot at the stick of his WWI airplane (see it here in the Museum). All of them look to be a determined lot. Obverse legend "Kohle Bringt Gold" means 'Coal brings gold.'
