The Medal of Honor was authorized in 1861 for bravery in service with the US Navy. It was later authorized for service with the US Army and Air Force. Only around 3,500 Medal of Honor have been issued since 1861. My photo here is reversed. The reverse design, by Joel Iskowitz, is what drew me to this coin. The uncirculated coin was struck at the Philadelphia mint with only 8,233 distributed. The proof version was issued from West Point mint with 18 k distributed.
