[Translation: Tribute to the USA 1776-1976 2000 Cordobas]
Mintage for this NCLT [non-circulating legal tender] BU issue is just 320, with a proof version of just 100. There are at least three other coins in this series for the US Bicentennial, the other design features the Liberty Bell. They're struck in various denominations in gold and silver. Curiously, other NCLT issues for 1975 target the UN, and the Vatican. The other special issues is for Earthquake relief. I'm thinking these out of place coins have something to do with currying favor for help with the earthquake (Dec '72). It took 20 years before Managua saw earnest efforts to rebuild.
