ZAR (Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, aka Transvaal) was one of the Boer republics that were later forcibility incorporated into the Union of South Africa. ZAR issued coins in denominations of 1d, 3d. 6g. 1/-, 2/-, 2/6d, 5 /-, £½, and £1 (the 1d in bronze, the other up tp 5/- in silver, and the latter two in gold). Coinage was minted from 1892 to 1900
