This is a wonderful example of only 1 of 2 types struck by Austria for the Revolution years of 1848 & 1849. There is a series revolutionary issues of Austria that include the 6 Kreuzer (elsewhere in the Museum) and the very scarce 20 Kreuzer of 1848 GM (KM2209, they have moved it to Mantua, Italy) of General J. Radetzky struck in Mantua during the battles with rebels in Venice and Lombardy (see Hungary or Mantua in some references).
This large 2 Kreuzer piece was only struck in 1848. It is large, thick, and has a nice rope type pattern on the edge. Fine and original surfaces of light brown, nice strike and preservation.
