With the advent of the unified Italian Kingdom, and the crowning of Vittorio Emanuele II as King (1861), the consolidation was complete by 1870. Apparently, Rome was now officially made the capital. Hence, this issue, featuring and ancient type depiction of Concordia, struck for the commemoration of Rome as capital, for 100 years. Designed by G.M. Monassi and L. Cretara, as a one-year type and 31,011,000 struck.
