A gorgeous neo-classical design. I can't say enough about how I love this coin. Like other Italian coins of this period you can trace design elements to some ancient Greek colony in southern Italy. I am attemping to find one that has full lines in the hair of the goddess (Ceres?). The reverse depicts a nice flying Victory holding a torch. This was struck during the rule of Vittorio Emanuele III and was issued between 1908 and 1935. Issues after this one, in 1922, are very rare and top quality strikes are hard to find.
