Beautiful - what is it? It reminds me of scenes from the movie "REDS" where they used trains extensively in the fight between the Reds and the Whites. Is this a medal with a denomination? It doesn't appear to be an issue from 1923. I'd like to know more!

Thanks 'Moneta'. It might be a locomotive that was used during the revolution and the Russian Civil War. I either case, the detailing was beautifully done. The denomination was written out on the obverse 'Poltinnik'. Poltinnik=50 Kopek. From what I understand, this was supposed to be replica of a pattern piece. Unfortunately, I don't know much more beyond this.
