This is an average condition token from Cronebane, Wicklow 1789 type [D&H 3 to 34]. It's of similar design to the type that, along with the MacClesfield issues, were the first commercial tokens struck with steam powered presses. These presses did not utilize collared planchets, that had to wait until Boulton and Watt mastered the more complex task of providing a fully automated process that utilized segmented collars that allowed the automatic ejection of a fully struck coin with legends on the edge. That level of automation came with the Wales/Druid types that were the first "coins" struck entirely using a steam powered machinery at the Boulton/Watt operation in Soho, Birmingham in 1791/2.
