'Gallic Empire'. (M. Aurelius Marius) A blacksmith by trade, Marius joined the Roman army and, with notable military skill, rose to the officer ranks. He siezed power upon the death of Postumus but was killed by his own soldiers (and by a sword of his own manufacture). His reign, while said to be only 2 or 3 days, must have been at least a couple of months due to the coinage produced. S3056; C17; RIC12.
