1-07: Tang Dynasty, 'Kai Yuan tong bao' ["The Inaugural Currency"; written: top, bottom, right, left]. This appears to be a Middle type [718 - 732 AD]. Hartill # 14.4, with high left shoulder 'Yuan'. Reverse is of a type not clearly defined in Hartill, here a crescent 'nail mark' is above the hole, off center and without other marks, perhaps it's a 'u' variety.
