France, Second Republic, 20 Francs 1850-A, Paris, Gold, F.529/2 (Short dog ear) NGC MS63. These beautiful and short lived "Ceres" Head issues first appeared in 1849 on these 20 Franc issues. These followed the 1848 Genius (Angel) writing the Constitution series. Both the silver and gold issues of this period feature different depictions of what KM describes as Liberty, but is more knowledgeably known a "Ceres," the Roman goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships.
