Wouldn't we love to be able to own an authentic Flowing Hair Chain Cent of 1793? So here's an alternative, a proof copper slug restrike marked 'COPY', as if you could confuse the two. This was done using the more common variety with AMERICA fully spelled out. The 1793 mintage of both types was 36,103 - which is probably much more than this proof copy. The original designer was Henry Voigt and this copy is a good representation of the original.
