CAMPBELL & HATCH - GOOD FOR A DRINK - 25c; Rx: blank
This RARE token is related to the O.K Corral incident that took place at about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 1881. That set off a very long series of events with subsequent killings. In the case of this piece: March 18, 1882, Morgan Earp is murdered while playing pool at the Campbell and Hatch Saloon in Tombstone. A similar piece sold at auction a few years ago for better than $8500.00 (see link below) - this token is not in the Moneta Museum.
Most Drink tokens of the era are worth 12 1/2 c (1 Bit), drinks at Campbell & Hatch Saloon must have been doubles straight up. Rarity listed as R9 (3-6 known).
