Austro-Hungarian Empire, Franz Joseph I. Besides the copper 2 Kreuzer, found in the Museum also, is this silver 6 Kreuzer struck at mints A,B, & C, for the short Austrian Revolution of 1848 and 1849. This is a wonderful example of only 1 of 2 types struck by Austria for the Revolution years of 1848 & 1849. The 'C' mintmark is uncertain to me now, but it's most likely in Transylvania (Hermannstadt or Cluy). There is a series revolutionary issues of Austria that include the 2 Kreuzer (elsewhere in the Museum) and the very scarce 20 Kreuzer of 1848 GM (KM2209, KM has moved it to Mantua, Italy) of General J. Radetzky struck in Mantua during the battles with rebels in Venice and Lombardy (see Hungary or Mantua in some references).
