CHINA - COMMUNIST SOVIET ISSUE. Countermarked Coinage: 'Workers' Silver Dollar chopmarked and on Yuan Shih-Kai Year 3 (1914) Dollar, c.1931-34. Good very fine. This is from a Baldwins sale catalog for the Hong Kong sale in April 2012. I've never seen one of these nor heard rumors of this types existence.
This might represent a type of Soviet issue predating efforts at minting YSK dollar copies in the Soviet districts. That type is represented here in the Moneta Museum. Assuming it's complelety legitimate, it goes to show that there are new numismatic discoveries to be made in the interesting area of Chinese Communist Soviet era numismatics.
