Portrait of Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia, father of Charles (Karlo) Emanuele. Reverse is a full-length figure of St. Maurice holding a flag. The Kingdon of Sardinia held portions of the Italian mainland in the province of the Piedmont. These areas were greatly involved in the French Revolutionary wars and changed hands on multiple occasions.
