150th Anniversary of the Birth of Karl Marx. The more famous of the Marx-Engels duo. They wrote "The Communist Manifesto" and "Das Kapital" to set out a model for a non-capitalist economic system. The system has been tried, as well as human nature will allow, and has been found wanting. The authoritarian governments the system has inspired has killed millions of people, either through the murder of political opponents, or the outright mismanagement of agricultural production. The Marxist-Communist system is a massive failure. Only a few die-hard oppressive countries attempt to adhere to strict communism and they are among the poorest in the world today.
