Here is an obvious fake! Some of the features that distinguish this counterfeit are: 1) Obverse (hammer/sickle) the large background star is solid, it should be outlined; 2) all of the characters are well formed and distinct (that is not a usual feature of the Soviet coppers); 3) rim and edge are sharply cut and flat; 4) The lettering in '500' is very thin; 5) these and other counterfeits in the coppers have a similar 'fuzzy' luster.
