This issue is from the 'Directory' years, those confused times between the fall of the 1st Republic (after the overthrow of the monarchy) and the consulate years of Napoleon. The obverse features a great portrait of French Liberty, "Marianne," usually worn at the high spots. This Un Decime of 1799 has the 'W' mintmark of Lille and the privy mark of the caduceus (medical symbol), signifying the moneyer Lepage (L.T.F.). Scalloped edge.
